Weddings via Pinterest no.4

Hello lovelies,

Hope you had a nice week and soaked up some sunshine!!! It was sooooo hot in London, didn't gain any more freckles thanks to work however!!

I have picked a few of my fave wedding flowers to share with you this week!!

Let me know if you what types of flowers you would go for, or what are your faves in general!! Or would you go for a more alternative bouquet!!

I love the draped style in this bouquet, orchids are gorg with their variety of colours.

gorgeous flowers

How simple and gorgeous do these pastel colours look against the white! Amazing, almost looks like the flowers have been dyed!

pastel colors!!

These flowers scream farmers wedding to me, the twine on them is such a homely touch!!

more rustic feel

The popping colour of these lillies would certainly make a statement on your big day!! Amazing!!

If you are looking for something a little different with your bouquet, have a little goo at these ones!!

DIY paper roses, I absolutely love this idea, you could make these look super vintage by staining with coffee or teabags!

diy paper flowers

If your a bit of a magpie, you will love this sparkly messy all over the place bouquet!! This can be made really easy with a bit of oasis/hard foam and insert your favourite sparkly jewels, hair accessories etc in to it!

I'm not a huge fan of butterflies myself but I thought this idea was really lovely!!
If your not in to flowers this is a pretty alternative!

Till the next instalment,

You make me wanna die...

Hey lovelies..

This post comes about after getting increasingly annoyed looking at pictures like this (see below) on pinterest.

I'm sick of these flipping things popping up in sections like 'hair and beauty', they should be in a section called 'makes you feel like shit'.

You may or may not have read my post Body Positive - Struggling, but basically I have leg issues, and pictures like this infuriate me. Its bad enough that I criticise myself never mind having to look at this shite everyday.

I don't buy magazines anymore (unless its for the freebies) as I'm sick of looking at skinny food deprived skeletal celebs. They want to make this normal in society but lets not beat around the bush, this is not normal at all. SCRAWNY IS NOT BEAUTIFUL - EAT A FEW DINNERS!!!

I think I was under the impression that boys wanted a girl that was a size 8 and that this was the ideal size, but I've been educated by my man and now know that most men like a bit of meat on their bones! If we are out an about I have the habit of saying 'oh what do you think of her body' about people that I think have the 'perfect' body, but he always says no they're too skinny!!!

I think many of us girls have the perception of what a man likes totally different from what they actually want. From what I've gathered, most of the men I know want a girl who has some curves and has a healthy look.

Please dont get me wrong I'm not trying to say that we should sculpt our body to the way men want it, I'm just trying to point out that our perception of what men want in women is wrong a lot of the time!!

FYI the title of the post is a song that made me calm a bit after getting angry seeing these types of photos!

I realise that with most of us in our own minds there will always be room for improvement somewhere, but I really don't need to see a 'normal' sized ass/leg/stomach being branded on mags and internet every day.

I will not allow myself to get sucked in by this shite, please don't let them suck you in either!!

Let me know if things like this grate on you as well,

Mila Kunis for Dior

Mila Kunis, who I have a massive girl crush on, star of Ted, Forgetting Sarah Marshall and The Black Swan, has become the new face of Dior's Miss Dior handbag campaign.

The campaign is vintage, and you know me, I flipping love vintage!!

This vintage look is a far cry from what we may remember Mila looking like in 'That 70's Show', I will let the pictures do the talking.

Let me know what you think of this 50's look!!

Weddings via Pinterest No. 2

Happy Sunday peeps, hope your all slobbed out on the couch having a lazy day, I on the other hand am in work, trying to sneakily get my post together!!

So last week I reignited my love for pinterest and decided to start sharing with you all what I love, and hopefully inspire you a little bit.

So here goes, here are the things I loved this week :)

Pinned Image
These blue heart lady dragons from Vivienne Westwood are just amazing. They are only £130.00 which I don't think is too high a price to pay for your big day!! They also combine you new and blue!!

Pinned Image
I love this idea for save the dates. It is something a little more quirky than sending out standard hallmark cards, it looks fun too!! I reckon you could do this really easily yourself and its very cost effective too!!

Pinned Image

If you don't know me let me tell you that I flipping love fascinators and headpieces, therefore I dribbled a little bit when I saw this beaut. Perfect if your a bride that doesn't want a veil or tiara type thing!!

If your the kinda gal that prefers paint to a gel french mani look this is a great idea. A nice pale pastel colour with a love heart painted on your ring finger!! I know this would suit me to the ground cause I cant function properly with falsies or gels!! Id be at the top table tearing them off!!

Pinned Image

Why not give your bridal party some props that make a gorg photo!! You could also include any smallies, parents etc!! You could get different letters to spell out whatever you like, but good luck organising people after a few bevvies!!!

I will leave you with this lot for now, hope you enjoyed!!

If you did enjoy, why not check out last weeks weddings via pinterest no.1 here

Weddings via Pinterest No.1

Since moving jobs, I have not been using a computer as much therefore forgot how flipping amazing pinterest is.

If you have not heard of pinterest before, its essentially a giant pin board of pictures that fill your mind with ideas, inspiration, happiness, and the very odd time anger (how to get skinny pictures)...

I love how pinterest opens my imagination to things I would never of though of. There is categories on pinterest therefore you can narrow down what you are looking for inspiration etc on. My faves are the wedding, hair, and pets section.

You may or may not know, but I have a slight wedding obsession. I'm not planning my own imaginary wedding in my head or anything now, I just love thinking outside the box when it comes to weddings, I think perhaps I should have been a wedding planner!!

I've decided instead of just re pinning all the wedding things I love, I will pick a few every week and feature them on the blog!! I would just like to make it very clear that any photos here are all from pinterest and I have stated the original poster under each photo, therefore I am not taking credit for them at all. My sole purpose is to inspire any of you blushing brides to be, or any ladies/gents out there like me who simply love weddings!!

http://pinterest.com/oscarwells/ is where you can join me on pinterest!!!

So here goes, here are some of the photos that got me excited from pinterest this week!!

Pinned Image

What a simple elegant centre piece for your tables. If you are going for a vintage look (which you all know I adore) this couldn't be simpler. Collect some empty jam jars, get rid of the stickers with hot suddy water, place some pebbles in the bottom (these could be coloured or clear) and pop a floating heat shaped candle in there. Top it off by tying some twine (or any material) around the top! Cheap as chips, and if your not into flowers this is an amazing alternative.

Pinned Image
Again another gorgeous centrepiece idea. If you want some flowers included but don't want the whole bouquet jazz then why not snip a few, stick em under a wine glass, and stick a wee candle on top! This centre piece could be done for next to nothing, and could be adapted to suit your 'theme'.

Pinned Image
I originally came across these on etsy.com and thought they were a really great idea. I know they are probably not for everyone and some of you will be cringing. I think if you are having a 'photobooth' type thing at your wedding where you want to capture all the silly moments your friends and family are having, then why not give them some props... You could pre-write things on them, or alternatively leave the chalk so they can write their own messages to you.

Pinned Image
I had never heard of a bridesmaid invitation, and certainly when I was asked to be a bridesmaid for my best friends wedding, it was never really a formal thing, it was kinda presumed on both sides that it was going to happen (I can't flipping wait by the way)! However if you want to go down the more formal route I think this little invitation is beautiful. You can personalise it to no end and its something your bridesmaid can keep forever! Really beautiful idea.

Pinned Image
My final pin for today is this puzzle piece guest book. A lot of may have seen at weddings the large photo of our friends.family with an area around it for everyone to sign, but if you are looking for an alternative to this but yet something you can treasure, why not but a large blank puzzle, leave it scattered randomly on a table at the reception and allow your guest to write their own little message for you on it. After you can then assemble the puzzle and frame it, having your guests lovely messages forever on your wall!!

I really hope you enjoyed this post, as I loved doing it.. Let me know below if you did enjoy please xx

I could literally spend hours showing you all ideas but until next time..

What will be left in Ireland..

I watched a programme on BBC3 the other night 'Coming Here Soon:Ireland Lost and Leaving' which brought a few tears to my eyes. It was essentially a researcher called Stacey Dooley going to Ireland, and speaking to young adults (my age) about the state of the economy.

It started off with protests in Dublin that expressed the anger that young people were feeling, how the state has essentially failed them.

She then went on to meet a lady who had bought a home in a new development in Dublin 'Priory Hall' but was then forced to moved out along with all the other residents due to the building being a complete fire hazard. These residents are still paying their mortgages of €1000 + each month but have no where to live. It made me sick to the stomach to think that I could possibly save my arse of for a deposit, buy a house where I intended to make a life for myself then just a couple of years down the line have absolutely nothing. The 'property developer' I'd prefer to call him a cowboy who was responsible for the shabby workmanship of these houses, is now not at all responsible for fixing them up and making them habitable again as he is BANKRUPT. My blood is boiling again thinking of how bloody unjust this is. These people have NO home to live in but yet they are still paying out their hard earned money every month. How the hell is this fair. I'm sure there are many residents not featured on the programme that can't make their mortgage repayments due to paying rent in their new 'home' etc and I simply can't understand how the government are doing sweet f.a about this.

Stacey then spoke to a group of young adults, mostly graduates with not just degrees, but with masters too. Out of a group of friends who all had degrees to their name, only one of the girls was working. She was not working with the degree and masters she had, but in Aldi. She was very humble and expressed how lucky she felt to have a job at all as the majority of her friends had no work at all.

Finally to the issue of immigration. I'm pretty sure that every single one of you who reads this knows one if not more people who have left the emerald isle to make a life for themselves somewhere else, simply due to the fact that there are no career prospects in Ireland. I am one of those who has had to pack my bags, leave my family and friends in order to try make a career for myself. I have friends in Canada, New Zeland and Australia who are pursuing a career in their chosen degree. I also have friends who cannot come home to Ireland because they know it would mean, drawing the social and facing unemployment for god knows how long. I also have a few friends that are living illegally in Australia because living and working over their illegally is a better option than sitting in Ireland waiting for work.
Stacey spoke to a GAA team who had lost eight players to immigration, well I can beat that, in my local club the Hurling team has lost 12 + players to immigration.
Stacey also spoke to a girl who had qualified with a 1.1 degree in speech therapy and who was preparing to pack her bags, for four years and head down under. This girl made it very clear that she wasn't going to Oz to travel etc, it was simply because of the job. Her parents looked heartbroken, and this 25 year old girl was thinking so far ahead as to how would it be possible to return to Ireland after four years and try start the search all over again, would there even be jobs then? It was very clear at the airport that this girl didnt want to leave, and was really difficult to watch.
My mam and dad were in the airport not so long ago and got talking to a security lady. She told them how everyday she witnesses parents hearts breaking as they wave goodbye to their kids who are leaving for the other side of the world to get a career. Come and look at those scenes ministers instead of sitting on your arse thinking up more bullshit taxes.

I think it has changed in the past number of years with regards people going to travel for a year (like I did) to now people having to go that far just to get a job. I think some people think 'finish college, pack my bags and f off to oz or nz'. I can almost guarantee you when it comes down to it, and you are embarking on that 24 hour flight with the prospects of not seeing friends or family for god knows how long, you will be leaving with teary eyes. A good friend of mine who has recently moved to oz has openly said 'i have done my year travelling, the only reason I'm going to oz is to take this job to use my degree, but given the choice I'd much rather be at home'
Choice. For some people staying in Ireland is not a CHOICE they have they liberty of making if they want to better themselves.

If your not from Ireland you may not be aware that our third level education is essentially free (aside from admin fee's). I don't know the statistics but at a random guess (correct me if I'm wrong) 70% of us who whold a third level degree from and Irish College/University are not working in Ireland in the sector we studied for. I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in thinking 'sure my degree is worth f all now that there is another four years of graduates who left after me, also competing in this industry'

I love Ireland, I am proud to be Irish and I want to go home. But I am not prepared to leave the UK to unemployment at. I am  home. I'm pretty sure I could get work in my previous job, but this is not what I want to do with my life. I want to establish myself in the sports sector, and sadly that is not going to happen in Ireland.

Can those suits above not see what is happening on the ground level. All of the skilled workers, I'm not just talking about those with degrees, are all leaving Ireland. It is your fault that myself and thousands of others are leaving everyday and taking our skills with us. It is not a hip hip hooray that your live register is down from the month before, its simply because another 1000 young people have left the country.

What the hell are you doing to help your own citizens in a country that is falling apart at the seams, while you sit on 100,000 salaries, and reel in bonuses every year?????

Fifty Shades Review

I mentioned in a previous post about what I've been reading that I was just about to read Fifty Shades of Grey. If you haven't heard of this book you must of been hiding away, cause its blooming everywhere, you can't avoid it.

The book is a, to put it bluntly, dirty romantic book. Not my usual style at all but I was very curious as to what all the fuss was about!! Its about one Christian Grey who encounters Anastacia Steele and it goes from there.. The author writes in a very simplistic, easy to read sort of way, but I had to ask myself what the hell was going through her head writing it!!

This book kept me reading until the end, and it was very easy to read i.e not a lot is left to the imagination! I won't be going out buying the other two though cause Mr Grey gives me the willies, and not in the good kind of way...

If you have read this, what did you think, will you be going back for some more Christian Grey???
